Join the Fight to End Cancer!

After 3 years of taking a break from racing, Matt and I are running our most exciting race yet - the NYC Marathon!

We run the majority of our races for the American Cancer Society and this race will again be to support ACS.

Most of you know why we run but if you need a refresher or are new her, here is the story:

In 2007 Camille's high school friend Grant was diagnosed with Gliomatosis Cerebri, an extremely rare and inoperable brain tumor. He was diagnosed shortly before his 20th birthday, and passed away in early May 2010, just after he turned 22.

For those who didn't know Grant, he was an extremely active person who was on the water polo team and swim team. Those two sports were his life, and his friendship with Camille began. He had an amazing sense of humor despite it all, but as his sickness progressed, the tumor left Grant unable to walk and without many of his common motor skills that we use everyday and never think twice about. You could see him getting frustrated trying to connect his thoughts to his words, and eventually he really couldn't speak or move.

In 2011 we started training to run for Grant and continue to run for those who cannot run, walk, swim, and may not ever be able to do those things again. We completed my first race, the Los Angeles Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon, and Camille raised $4,995, making her the top American Cancer Society fundraiser for that entire race.

Three years ago she completed my first marathon in San Diego and in total has raised over $11,000 in the name of cancer research.

After a long break from running and a nagging feeling to start up again, she found herself on the American Cancer Society website, and the rest is history.

We have created team FOR GRANT to honor his memory. Please help us reach our goal of $6,500 by donating anything you can. No donation is too small.
