Why We Formed a Relay Team
Welcome to our team page! Almost all of us have been touched by cancer in some way, so we've decided to make a difference by walking and raising money in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life event.
At the event, our team will take turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society in the world?s largest fight for more birthdays.
Jesse Pallas has been my initial inspiration for getting involved with Relay for Life. He is a 6 year old boy who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in March 2011. Jesse touched a place in my heart the moment I laid eyes on him and I started asking questions and became friends with his family. Since I met him he has become one of my best friends. Jesse is an extraordinary boy who loves trains, firefighters and people in general. He can light up an entire room with his smile. Unlike most of the children who are fighting this disease, he is dealing with more complications from the side effects of his treatments and is struggling on a daily basis.
The donations received from this event help The American Cancer Society research for a cure. Equipment and supplies are given to local cancer hospitals where patients receive their treatments including Jesse's hospital (Stony Brook). They give 24 hour support to patients and family members who have questions and need advice. So, I am asking you to please help our team make a difference in the lives of everyone fighting cancer!
Our team is doing our part to make sure that cancer never steals another year of anyone?s life. Please join our team or make a donation, because saving lives from cancer starts one team, one participant, and one dollar at a time.
