Daffodil Days

The American Cancer Society has adopted the daffodil as its official flower because, like the Society, the daffodil represents hope. Since the daffodil represents hope against cancer, the Ohio Division Daffodils Days slogan is “Birthdays Bring Hope”.

Relay For Life teams are invited to sell Daffodils and a "Bear & A Bunch" as a way to get a jump start to their yearly fundraising efforts.

Birthdays R Hope Bear

Bear and a Bunch
This year’s Boyds exclusive, limited-edition bear for the 2010 Bear and a Bunch campaign is Birthdays R. Hope, a 10-inch plush, oatmeal colored bear holding a Celebrating Hope cupcake. As with previous Bear and a Bunch offerings, Birthdays also has an embroidered daffodil on one paw and the American Cancer Society logo on the other. The bear will be offered along with 10 fresh-cut daffodils for a donation of $25.00.

Daffodil Days Boquet

Daffodil Bouquet
A bouquet consists of 10 fresh-cut daffodils. A vase is not included. Daffodil Bunch donation price is $10.00.

The Bloomin’ Facts

As a team participant, if I sell daffodils what are my responsibilities?

  1. Accepting daffodil orders
  2. Handling and managing the money from orders
  3. Distribution of the daffodils during the week of Daffodil Days, March 15, 2010

How do the daffodils arrive?
Daffodils are banded in bunches of 10 and with a total of 50 bunches per case. When the flowers arrive they are in the tight bud stage.

When do daffodils arrive?
Daffodil Days will take place March 15-20, 2010.Your daffodils will be available for pick up on March 14-15, 2010.

When can daffodils be sold?
Orders for daffodils can be taken now until the order due date specified by your American Cancer Society staff partner. Please check the local fundraisers page for details.

Do we take orders for the daffodils? When do we collect the money?
You will take orders and collect the money at the time of the sale. Order forms and monies must be turned in by the order due date to your Relay’s Daffodil Coordinator. All checks should be made payable to the American Cancer Society and sent to your Regional American Cancer Society office.

When I sell a bunch of daffodils for $10.00 or a Bear & a Bunch for $25.00 how much will I make for my team?
Daffodils are sold for $10.00 per bunch and teams can earn approximately $8.20 per bunch sold. One case of sold daffodils will result in a total income of $500. Your team will receive a credit of approximately $410 (credit is dependant on quantities ordered statewide). For every Bear & a Bunch sold for $25.00, your team will be credited $17.90.

How do I receive credit for my Daffodil and Bear & a Bunch sales?
Your local staff partner is responsible for keeping track of the money collected for Daffodils and Bear & a Bunch sales, therefore, it is important that when turning in your money you keep it separate from other team and individual fundraising income. Daffodils are sold for $10.00 per bunch and the Bear & a Bunch are sold for $25.00. For each item sold, the cost and sales tax is subtracted your Relay's overall income.
