Relay For Life of Bay Ridge
Grace Ann Mennella, is a Relay All Star and a teacher who has led her middle school to success at the Relay For Life of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York.
Grace Ann's Team, Murphy's Gang raised over $30,000 last year for the American Cancer Society! Grace Ann personally raised over $10,000. After surviving her battle with colon cancer, Grace Ann promotes living a healthy lifestyle, filled with exercise and good nutrition. Grace Ann engages the students year-round through her math classes in fundraising projects for Relay. Some of her creative ideas include: students selling home-made safety beaded safety-pin bracelets and assigning students a "business plan" project where they create a product and a plan to sell it. All of the money they raise from their businesses gets donated to the Relay. As Luminaria Co-Chair for her Relay, her students help her decorate and set up all the luminaria bags at Relay. Grace Ann is one of the essential faces of the Bay Ridge Relay. For these reasons and more we honor Grace Ann as an all-around Relay All Star! | | |
The Relay All-Stars are a select group of individuals committed to achieving extraordinary fundraising results for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life event. Relay All-Stars was created to recognize participants who excel in their efforts to support the Society’s mission to eliminate cancer as a life-threatening illness.
