My Reason to Relay Why do I participate in Relay? Because I know too
many people who are suffering from cancer. I am walking in honor of my
Nana and her sister my Aunt Darlene both survivors. I'm walking for
my cousin Sara who is now a survivor of her cancer! I remember my
FBLA advisor from high school Mrs. Papierski and my boyfriend's
mother who lost their battles recently. Cancer has hurt far too many
people who are near and dear to my heart and I want to change that.
My team is known as Team GEEK because everyone is a geek about
something! Those who know me realize the fandoms I'm really super
geeky about right now are Ghostbusters and Doctor Who. I like most
Whovians was very saddened to hear of the passing of Nicholas
Courtney best known as Brigadier Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart
or simply the Brig. I didn't realize however until I read Tom
Baker's lovely tribute that Nicholas had been battling cancer. And
shortly after Nick we lost Elisabeth Sladen our beloved Sarah Jane
Smith also to cancer. Of course I also am walking in honor of Steve
Jobs without whom I wouldn't be writing this on a MacBook or
checking my fundraising from an iPhone. Too many wonderful people
taken by this evil!
I Relay because I want to see an end to cancer during my lifetime.
Relay gives me the unique opportunity to celebrate the lives of those
who have battled cancer remember loved ones lost and support the
American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission by fighting back against
a disease that has already taken too much from too many families.
Please support my efforts to fight back against cancer by making a
donation or joining my Relay For Life team!!! Your efforts will help
the American Cancer Society fund groundbreaking cancer research
provide up-to-date cancer information advocate for all people to have
access to screening and treatment and offer free programs and
services to improve the quality of life for people facing cancer. By
being a part of Relay we are joining a worldwide movement to help
defeat cancer for future generations.
Thank you to my supporters!
