With deep sadness, the Event Leadership Team of the Relay For Life of Cape Ann is announcing the cancellation of this year’s Cape Ann Relay scheduled for September 17, 2016 at Burnham's Field in Gloucester. Varying personal circumstances have resulted in several leadership volunteers having to step away at this time and despite reaching out to the larger community in the hopes of recruiting more interested people, we don’t have enough leadership volunteers to continue. We made the difficult decision to cancel the event. Some of the Event Leadership Team members have been with the Cape Ann Relay for every one of its 13 years so this decision was not made lightly. The Event Leadership Team thanks those who have worked tirelessly for the last several months and also would like to express gratitude to those who have previously given of themselves for this important event.
The American Cancer Society will keep the Cape Ann Relay page active. Interested individuals can still raise money for the important work the American Cancer Society does to help eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
We invite you to continue your support of the American Cancer Society by participating in the Relay for Life of Danvers and help us make it a success. You can find more details, including registration at:
All teams and participants are welcome to join in the Danvers Relay, on June 17 from 6pm-midnight, at Essex Technical HS, 565 Maple St, Danvers, MA.
The American Cancer Society continues to work to finish the fight against cancer in Cape Ann. We sincerely hope you will stay involved in our mission. Your support is making a difference.
Additionally, the American Cancer Society will be working with interested volunteers to explore other event options such as a Bark For Life, a Cocktails for a Cause or even a Fire Truck Pull.
