Heartbleed Bug

We have received some security questions regarding the Heartbleed bug, a serious vulnerability in a popular security feature on the Web. First and foremost, all American Cancer Society systems are continually monitored for vulnerabilities. The American Cancer Society's IT Department has conducted an analysis of exposures and determined that the Society is not vulnerable to this bug.

To protect yourself, you should:
1. Refrain from doing sensitive online transactions (i.e., banking or shopping) until you receive notification from service providers that their secure websites are not vulnerable or have been patched.
2. Change your passwords, especially on those sites where you perform sensitive transactions.
3. Use different passwords for each site.

Visit for more information about the bug and who is affected.

In the fight against cancer, silence is the last thing we need. Your local American Cancer Society Relay For Life event is a great place to take action and make noise. The Relay For Life movement features community and campus events that offer an inspiring opportunity to honor cancer survivors, promote how individuals can reduce their cancer risk, and raise money to help end cancer. Today, with the support of thousands of volunteers, the American Cancer Society is helping save more than 400 lives a day. And we won't stop until we finish the fight against cancer!
