While cancer survival rates have increased over the past few decades, there is still much work to be done in the fight against cancer. This year we ask you to join us in continuing the fight as we draw closer to that finish line, that day when not 2 out of 3 people survive, but 3 out of 3 survive.
The Birth of Relay:
In May 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt spent a grueling 24 hours circling the track at Baker Stadium at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma for more than 83 miles. Throughout the night, friends donated $25 to run or walk 30 minutes with him. He raised $27,000 to fight cancer. That first year, nearly 300 of Dr. Klatt's friends, family, and patients watched as he ran and walked the course.

With the support of thousands of volunteers, the American Cancer Society is helping save more than 400 lives a day. The Relay For Life movement offers an inspiring opportunity to honor cancer survivors, promote how individuals can reduce their cancer risk, and raise money to help end cancer. And we won't stop until we finish the fight against cancer!
