WAY TO GO WEST ORANGE!
I am still smiling. Hats off to all of you for a fantastic 10th Annual Relay For Life! Despite the weather, we made lemonade out of lemons.
Special thanks goes to Newark Academy and some WOHS students for getting creative with decor and set up. Tony Rigano our DJ who rocked and who found the solution to our Luminaria presentation hiccup. Sammy Powell for her gorgeous singing of the National Anthem, to the dance group from UPAC and the OSG Band. It added the intimate and warm (literally) climate. To our wonderful speakers: Mayor Parisi, Danielle Kaiser, Sarah Kravits, Mary Robinson from Imagine and Chris Baginski from local PBA 25 and Craig Rexford, our top fundraiser. Big shout out to the Essex County Police Academy, for their moving salute during the surivor lap, their energy and spirit and for helping with the cracking of the glow sticks and break down. I am so proud to be a part of this community and even prouder of the commitment and passion that each of you gave. Thank you to my AWESOME committee, with whom I am so grateful for. TEAM CAPTAINS kudos to all of you for being the driving force behind our fundraising efforts. Especially, the Local WO PBA 25 and fire department for feeding us. We raised over 10K the night of Relay and there is still money to come in. In fact, you have until August 31st to keep fundraising. While we surpassed our goal of 80K net, my personal goal is $100K net....Lets work together to see if we can reach this. Please read a great post relay article written by Jake Klein, one of our WOHS students and team captains.
WITH GREAT ADMIRATION,
In the fight against cancer, silence is the last thing we need. Relay For Life of West Orange is a great place to take action and make noise. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement symbolizes hope and our shared goal to end a disease that threatens the lives of so many people we love. If cancer has touched your life, participating in Relay For Life of West Orange is a great way to take action and help finish the fight. This is your opportunity to honor cancer survivors, remember those we have lost, and raise funds and awareness to fight back and help end cancer forever.
You will be able to start a team, join an existing team, or register to walk the Survivor Lap.
