On May 11.2012, Mary G. Montgomery High School will be hosting our annual Semmes Relay For Life. Relay For Life is the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. We are very excited about this happening, and we would like for you to join us in this battle against cancer. It is just amazing to me that a small group of people can join together, enjoy themselves, raise money, and really feel good about all they have done to help find a cure for cancer.

Relay for Life is an overnight event that offers us an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer, because cancer never sleeps. People of all ages who want to have fun and help, are invited and encouraged to attend.

Kick off meeting January 23^rd at the MGM cafeteria 6:00 p.m.

Relay for Life is not just a fundraiser, it is a celebration of life for cancer survivors as well as a time of remembrance for those who have lost their battles with cancer. When I tell you that the Relay is a celebration of life, I mean in every word: Life is a celebration!!

As most of you know, I too am a survivor and have done really well again this year. All tests are coming back clear, and I am now cancer- free for 6 ½ years. That could not have been possible without others like you taking part in Relays before, just like the one we have. I and many others will beat this with your help. You never know who will be the next one that cancer strikes. While I was working on the first Relay several years ago, I had no idea that I would be fighting to find a cure for myself. I have so much to be thankful for.

Please come out and join us for an extremely rewarding and fun event. I hope to see each of you at our January 23^rd meeting at 6:00 at the MGM Cafteria. We are your chairmen: Jane Farnell, 649-3234; Terri Nelson, 649-3136; and Kim Bedsole, 645-5222 and Angie Hannah .
