Mark you calendars for Endure 4

August 5th, 2011!

On behalf of Endure 3, an American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon, We would like to thank you for your partnership in the fight against cancer.

On Sunday August 7, 2011, cyclists and volunteers from the local community and beyond came together under the inspirational theme “Who are you riding for?” to fight cancer, a disease that affects one in four people.   A police escort followed by an exotic pace car led nearly 200 cyclists out of Wilkes University as they set out on their mission of pedaling against cancer.  The event led cyclists through many of the beautiful backs roads of Luzerne and Lackawanna counties, with 36 and 62 mile courses for avid cyclists, as well as a 10 mile course along the Susquehanna River for novices and families.

Each year we have set new benchmarks of improved organization, layout, and rider reach and Endure is quickly becoming a staple on cyclists’ calendars.  With your sponsorship, and the fund-raising efforts of our participants, we raised nearly $30K to support the American Cancer Society. These funds aid in the American Cancer Society’s mission of eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

2011 Endure:
An American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon

Thank you for visiting the home of Endure for a Cure, an American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon.  As we enter our 3^rd year we are looking to continue our growth streak by increasing rider participation and, more importantly, raising much needed dollars to aid in the fight against cancer. 

We welcome you, your family and friends, to come out on Sunday, August 7, 2011 as an individual or a team to take a stand in the fight against cancer.

We have route options for everyone:

• 12 mile family friendly route along the scenic Susquehanna River (mostly closed to traffic with three blocks of lightly traveled road).
• 30* mile route that takes a moderate climb into the back mountain with beautiful vistas prior to a nice long descent and flat return.
• 62 mile route that encompasses a little bit of everything with great scenery, trekking along the Susquehanna River, climbing up to Lake Winola, along with some great descents to the flat return.

*Due to current road/utility construction the 30 mile route has been adjusted to 36.6 miles to avoid these areas.
