Dedicate a Luminaria Survivor Information and Registration

The Luminaria Ceremony is the opportunity for people to come together to remember loved ones lost to cancer and honor those who have won their battle. This is one of the most moving parts of the event that you will not want to miss. Honor or remember someone at Relay For Life with a luminaria. Learn More

Survivors are the reason we Relay. Survivors make up a group of nearly 11 million strong who are finding their way through the cancer experience and fighting back against the disease. At Relay For Life, Survivors are our guests of honor. Learn More

A message from your co-chairs:

Hello everyone, and welcome to Relay For Life of Salinas 2010!  We are honored and very excited to lead you into a new year filled with promise, hope and change in the fight against cancer.

“Can you imagine a world with more birthdays; where cancer can never claim another year of anyone’s life?”  We can imagine that, and that dream is the foundation on which Relay For Life 2010 has been built.  Won’t you help us make it happen?

As we enter a new decade with Relay For Life of Salinas, we have made changes to our event which will lay the foundation for future Relays.  In the spirit of Relay For Life across the nation, we are changing to a true 24-hour event by moving our event dates to Saturday-Sunday.  By extending our Relay hours we open the door to more opportunities for community and team involvement, and more flexibility for individuals and families who wish to attend but were otherwise restricted by work schedules.  Increased hours will also provide more on-site activities and fundraising opportunities for teams, survivors, and participants.  Fundraising isn't all we do, but everything we do depends on it.

We have also changed the location of our event.  Due to the recent changes to the sports fields at Hartnell track we are relocating to a new venue for our event this year.  We have found a location that provides us with everything we need for our 24-hour event, including the space and facilities to grow our event in the years to come.  We are very excited to announce that Relay For Life of Salinas 2010 will be held at the Salinas Sports Complex.

Of course, a change of location does mean saying goodbye to our old home at Hartnell track where the first Relay For Life of Salinas was held 12 years ago.  We extend our heartfelt thanks to Hartnell College for providing us with a home for the past twelve years and for their support of Relay For Life and the fight against cancer.

Each one of you is an essential part of our Relay team and we look to you to help us achieve our goals for 2010.  Through your creative efforts, commitment and passion for Relay, 2010 is sure to be an amazing venture into the realm of possibilities. To create a vision you have to dream.  Dare to dream with us as we enter a new decade of hope and sharing that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported and that one day, cancer will be eliminated.
