Together we've raised $97,576.41 to help save lives.
The Pull for a Cure Challenge offers competitors in a local regatta the opportunity to use their participation as a platform to garner financial support for breast cancer research. This year’s Challenge takes place at the Head of the Charles in October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All donations are collected through the Pull for a Cure website and go directly to the breast cancer research support provided by the American Cancer Society. Participants in Pull for a Cure row in lieu of walking in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Boston walk. Donations through Pull for a Cure benefit Boston Making Strides, which takes place in 2014 on Sunday, October 5th at the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell. Pull for a Cure and the American Cancer Society are not affiliated with the Head of the Charles.
In May 2011,
the group from Brown who had begun the Pull For a Cure initiative
contacted the Regatta Office in hopes of gaining the official support of
the Head Of The Charles. Regatta staff worked closely with both Brown
and the American Cancer Society team to incorporate Pull For a Cure into
the HOCR while remaining true to the original mission and the wishes of
its founders. The Head Of The Charles is proud to support the bold and
inspiring efforts of Dan Aziz and the rest of the Brown crew and to aid
in promoting his initiative to the larger rowing community.
