Relay For Life of South Hampton Roads presented by Chesapeake Regional Healthcare

Strike Out Cancer

The Virginia Wesleyan Softball program has run a Strike Out Cancer Day since 2009 in memory of Elaine F. Sears, the mother of Head Coach Brandon Elliott. We have raised over $130,000 with the help of the VWUCommunity and people like YOU. We have set our goal to $30,000 for 2019 and once again we will have Music, Food, Fun and a very moving presentation. Please come and join us on Saturday, April 13th at 12:30 PM. The presentation will be followed by a double header against Ferrum College as well as a great Silent Auction.

In addition to this year's event at VWU, we have joined forces with our Alumni Relations & Enrollment teams in welcoming our Marlin Day Open House Guests and our Spring Alumni Guests!  We will host a Pig Pickin' as well as other events on campus.

Just as in 2018, we will joing forces with the Glaubke Family (Mike, Ryan and Madison) to remember Margorie Glaubke, who we lost to cancer on September 10th, 2017. The Glaubke Family has continued to be huge supporters of our Strike Out Cancer efforts and will be for a long time!

HOW FUNDRAISING IMPACTS YOUR COMMUNITY

Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
