Relay For Life of South Hampton Roads

Strike Out Cancer

The Virginia Wesleyan Softball program has run a Strike Out Cancer Day since 2009 in memory of Elaine F. Sears, the mother of Head Coach Brandon Elliott. We have raised over $100,000 with the help of GENESiS Ministries, the VWUCommunity and people like YOU. We have set our goal to $20,000 for 2018 and once again we will have Music, Food, Fun and a very moving presentation. Please come and join us on Saturday, April 7th at 12:30 PM. The presentation will be followed by a double header against Emory & Henry Collegeas well as a great Silent Auction.

In addition to this year's even at VWU, we have joined forces with the Glaubke Family (Mike, Ryan and Madison) and Rudees to remember Margorie Glaubke, who we lost to cancer on September 10th, 2017. The Glaubke Family has started the Margorie Glaubke Memorial Kick Off to Strike Out Cancer at Rudees which will be the official kick off to Strike Out Cancer.

When Communities Come Together

Donations are used to fund life-saving cancer research, patient support services, prevention and education information, and detection and treatment programs. Here's how the money raised last year is helping make a difference.

$406 million

Funding potentially life-saving cancer research grants.

1.2+ million
