The Cook Connection

I am an individual participant who is part of a large team coordinated by fans of singer David Cook at david-cook.org . We have a goal of raising $26,000 for the ACS by David's 26th birthday in December. I have set a personal goal of raising $1,000. This is a cause near and dear to me. Breast cancer claimed the lives of my mother and grandmother. If you know me, you know what an insane fan I am David Cook. Beyond his immense talent as a singer, songwriter, guitar player, recording artist and live performer, David has made the fight against cancer a personal cause. Like so many of us, cancer has affected people in his life. David has been extraordinarily supportive of several young fans with leukemia and cancer (you may have noticed the orange, red and yellow wrist bands he wears on their behalf). David is all about music, family, friendships and philanthropy. And winning the war against cancer.

In Memory of My Mom

Mildred Gutman was a breast cancer survivor for more than a decade. It was a second bout that claimed her life on July 27, 1999.
Wildly smart, wickedly funny, nurturing, charming and kind, you will never find a better mother. Our family's experience with her cancer showed us that survivors need emotional and financial support, new treatments are needed to help slow down the growth of cancers, and that awareness can prevent cancer or at least lead to early detection, which can mean the difference between life and death.
