Our Reason to Relay
Fighting cancer is a team effort. The impact we can make together is much greater than what any of us could do alone!
Cancer has impacted so many of us in all different ways and we all relay for many different reasons. However, we have all come together for the one common purpose of joining forces and helping the fight against cancer! This year we relay to:
Celebrate the life in which we have all been given. We search within ourselves to use the talents that we have been given to the good of others. We remind ourselves of just how short life can be and how none of us are promised tomorrow. We also want to take part in a celebration for those who won their battle against cancer and are walking miracles. To show them that they're not alone and are truly an inspiratin to all. But most of all to never miss the opportunity to Celebrate the best gift of all...LIFE!
Remember those who have lost their battle to cancer and have moved on to a better place. We want to always ensure that we not only remember them and the struggles that each of them went through but we want to make sure that we always remember them for who they were and what they stood for before Cancer took them from this world and our lives. We want to remember what they meant to us and how each of them impacted our lives in so many ways.
Fight Back in anyway that we can to ensure that one day cancer will be stopped. That one day the burden of cancer will be lifted and that no one will ever be afraid of hearing or saying the word cancer again. We want to take the hurt from losing loved ones and turn it into a flame that burns within each of us to never stop fighting. To honor those who have passed, those of you who are fighting every day for the life in which some of us take for granted, those of you who have survived and for anyone who will be touched by cancer in their lifetime!
These are just a few of the reasons that we choose to Relay. And today if you're reading this....we ask that you too, think about how cancer has touched your life and what it has taken from you. We ask that you take a stand and decide what you're NOT going to allow cancer to take from you anymore! We hope this lights a flame within your heart that you will never allow cancer to blow out!
Our flames continue to burn in remembrance of:
Mildred "Granny" Morris Roger H. Kidd Margaret Kidd
Lewis 'Pete' Morris Martin K. Bradley William Kidd
Anita Ferguson Carl D. DeBoard Billy Campbell Laurie Monroe
Odena DeBoard James 'Jimmy' Watts William A. Critzer
Lisa Stevens T. B. Baker Bonnie Ragland
"GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN..."
And the spark that lights the flames are our survivors:
Phyllis Kidd Robin Warren Gregory Sherwood
Lindsay Birckhead Wilson Kidd Teresa West
All Survivors
I have often thought of cancer as a schoolyard bully. He’s a bully with such a bad reputation that he no longer has to fight: just the mere thought of him could send people running. But all it takes is for a couple of people to stand up to the bully to diminish his reputation. That’s what a cancer success story does-it stares down the cancer bully. It shows that he can be beaten-and, believe me, he can!
Please make a donation, or join our team and help us create a world where cancer can no longer claim another year of anyone’s life. No donation is too small...we have to start somewhere!
