The Relay for Life of Olney

Saturday May 30th until May 31st, 2009 at Sherwood High School in Ashton, MD

Dear family and friends,
For my 3rd year I am proud to be participating in the Relay for Life of Olney.  My reason for doing this is because cancer has hurt and destroyed so many lives and I want to fight back!. 

I have personally contracted two different types of cancers 14 years apart.  For all that I went through with treatments and surgeries, I am so grateful to be alive and enjoying the love of my family and friends. 

Cancer can happen to anyone. One out of every 3 people will contract some form of cancer in their lifetime.  I want to stop this terrible disease from hurting so many people's lives.  Not just the people who will get the disease but their families and friends who will try to lend their love and suport during this trying and difficult time.  From their support these people will gain the strength of will to survive the pain and sicknesses of going through everything that is necessary to fight to survive.
I am so happy to be able to again collect  donations to support The American Cancer Society, for all that they do to fight this disease. They provide support and guidance to those families who need it, as well as providing education to the world. They finance needed research to not only cure cancer but prevent it. So many cancers are now detected early and treated in time to be cured.  About 75 % of all people who get cancer, now survive.  

Your kind and very generous support for our Relay For Life of Olney will help save countless lives and agonies.

This is an invitation to everyone to come and visit our team at The Relay (The Olney Jewels), start your own team, or just PLEASE DONATE to our cause.
There is the Survivor's Luncheon, free for anyone who has had cancer and the Survivor's Lap to kick-off the Relay.  Join us for the touching Luminaria Lap where the Luminaria (that cost $10 each) are lit with the names of those we honor who have had cancer and won the fight or those who have lost their battle. This is a war and we have to win.
