My Reason to Relay

Hi Family and dear friends,
Thanks for visiting my site. We are starting our 2010 Relay season and just wanted you to get in on it early!  Here is my update on my ongoing breast cancer battle of 9 years.  I had a "chemo break" from March 09-July 09 and have been back on weekly chemo since then. (This is round 6....each lasting 6-9 months and on a different chemotherapy).  I take Abraxane weekly with a three weeks on one off schedule.I have been tolerating this round well and other than hair loss and some anemia, really have no other side effects of note.  I'm blessed to be able to handle chemo well....God's grace.

I am joining people around the world in celebrating those who have survived cancer, remembering the people we've lost, and supporting the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Society. Our Relay For LIfe event will be held 20-21 May 2010 at Tabb High School and we'd love to invite you to celebrate with us.

Please feel free to make a donation to me or join my team if you feel led and know that I and many other survivors thank you from deep inside. You are helping deliver the hope that future generations will not have to endure cancer threatening the lives of their friends and family. You have the power to fight back against a disease that affects millions. I know it is a tough year for everyone and appreciate this so much.....lovingly, Cindy

Great craft fair today....made $320 for the cause. Yea. The cellphone charms are going like hotcakes. Check my facebook page for photos. Great Christmas gifts for the person who has everything and you don't know what to give or the newly diagnosed. Talked to plenty of survivors today also. All fascinating stories. It affects us all.

"Awareness Jewelry"
So, in my state of mild anemia, I've been making awareness jewelry like crazy for the Kiln Creek craft fair 7 November...come on out....its in Kiln Creek Park (take the Kroger entrance to Kiln Creek from Victory and it is on your right). Free parking; 60 vendors and look for the Relay for Life sign. On sale will be bracelets, necklaces, earrings, keychains, book thongs, eyeglass holders, cellphone charms, and more. New line is mens line of leather adjustables. 100% proceeds go to the ACS to help me and so many others. Did you know that ACS has funded 40 nobel laureates? Come on out next Sat.....

hair loss
So, this is the third time since I was diagnosed originally in 2000 that my hair has completely gone. I'm pretty comfortable with it. I wear a beenie at night as it is getting cold and usually either a ballcap or scarf. Wig's are such a pain but I'll have to decide about one (old one looks wierd now) for a nephew's wedding next year. Otherwise, I go bald. It opens up lots of conversations too. I am grateful I still have some eyelashes. I paint on eyebrows. So, that old adage comes to mind.....beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....
