In Memory of Ellen Hicks, my Mom! The reason I fight!

As most of you may know I lost my mother to cancer, nearly 4 years ago.  It was the hardest thing I've ever had to go through.  To sit there and watch her suffer, helpless to safe her.  I miss her every single day and wish that my own daughter could have known how wonderful her Grandmother was.  Olivia amazes me everyday and it kills me that my mother never got to meet her. 

So in her honor I ask you to help me in the fight agianst Cancer!! It has touched everyones lifes in one way or another and if a cure is not found more and more lifes will be affected and/or lost!  Cancer is a killer!! No way around it, it's one of the scariest words known to man. 

I've done Relay for Life a couple times now and I LOVE this event! It's so much fun, always exciting and really makes you feel good about what your doing! Salisbury University's Relay for Life was by far my favorite, they really go all out to fight agianst cancer! I'm very happy my neice Kayla started this team and is allowing me to be part of such a great event!! Go NANNY'S GOATS!!

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is more than just an event to me. It is my personal opportunity to help save lives from cancer by supporting the American Cancer Society.

But, by taking part in Relay, I am helping the American Cancer Society save lives by:

• Helping people stay well by helping them take steps to prevent cancer or detect it early, when it’s most treatable
• Helping people get well by being in their corner around the clock to guide them through every step of their cancer experience
• Finding cures by funding groundbreaking research that helps us understand cancer’s causes, determine how best to prevent it and discover new ways to cure it
• Fighting back by working with lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and rally communities worldwide to join the fight
