My Reason to Relay

Cancer, in any way, shape or form, is horrible. It affects so many people all around the world. I know many people that have won the battle, but I also know many who fought courageously and lost. I lost a dear friend Jane Ryan in December of 2007 and just recently I lost my father, Stephen Segalla, on December 25, 2008. I am doing this relay to honor them, as well as, those I know who have survived like Albert Bard (my Papa), Dawn Oates, Missy Ohler, Dick Bunce, Uncle Joe and Bonnie Perotti. I got the team name "What Would Stevie Do?" from my Aunt Peggy. She loved how her brother lived his life helping others, working hard and having fun while doing it. Therefore, she finds herself asking the question, "What Would Stevie Do?" when she has to make a decision. Last year we were the #1 fundraising team!! We raised over $8,000 in just a month and we are hoping to raise more than that this year. Any contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you for taking the time to read, reflect and remember.

I Relay because I want to see an end to cancer during my lifetime. Relay gives me the unique opportunity to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission by fighting back against a disease that has already taken too much.

Your efforts will help the American Cancer Society fund groundbreaking cancer research, provide up-to-date cancer information, advocate for all people to have access to screening and treatment, and offer free programs and services to improve the quality of life for people facing cancer.
