My Reason to Relay

I Relay because I was diagnosed with stage 1 cancer July, 2008 just two days before my 27th birthday.  I underwent surgery and chemotherapy which successfully provided me with an amazing 95% survival rate.  20 years ago I would have only had a 20% survival rate. Research and efforts of organizations such as the American Cancer Society has increased my chances of survival by 75%, and provided me with a chance to live a long and healthy life after cancer.  Relay gives me the unique opportunity to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission by fighting back against a disease that has already taken too much.
