My Reason to Relay

No one should ever have to hear the words "You have cancer". There are not many people who can say there is no one in their life that hasn't heard these life-altering words. But, the fight against this terrible disease is making progress. In 2006, for the first time in history, the actual number of cancer deaths decreased. There are over 10 million cancer survivors alive today in the U.S.! This statistic brings HOPE to all of those who have, or will ever, hear those words.

I have found a way we can make a difference in this fight - through the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Lakewood Ranch. I am dedicating my walk this year to a very special person who has heard the words "You have cancer":

On April 23rd - April 24th, 2010, participants will celebrate the Lakewood Ranch Relay's 5th anniversary by spending 24 hours at Lakewood Ranch High School. We have increased our 2010 goal to $5,000, to be used towards research, education, advocacy and patient services.
