My Reason to Relay
Hardly anyone I know can say they DON'T have a friend or relative that has battled cancer. Did you know that more than 1.4 million Americans will be diagnosed with some form of cancer this year? The best way to fight against cancer is through the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Relay for Life, which represents more than 40% of all ACS funding.
Again this year I will be dedicating my walk to best friend Denice Maynard, who just finished chemo and started radiation in her fight. She is amazing...a mom...a true friend...a teacher...a runner...a survivor!!! I also Relay in honor of my grandmother and so many others I know.
At the ACS Relay For Life, our team will camp out overnight and take turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness to help the ACS save more lives from cancer. Team Go PINK needs 12-14 members to walk and EVERYONE to donate and fight. By joining or donating to our team, you will be a part of a life-changing event that gives everyone in the community a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too much/
How can you help?
You can support the fight by making a tax-deductible contribution to the American Cancer Society either online or by check. Additionally, you may purchase a luminaria online to honor someone fighting cancer or in remembrance of someone who has lost their battle with cancer. The candles burn throughout the night, serving as a reminder of the purpose of Relay for Life.
Your efforts will help the American Cancer Society fund groundbreaking cancer research, provide up-to-date cancer information, advocate for all people to have access to screening and treatment, and offer free programs and services to improve the quality of life for people facing cancer. By being a part of Relay, you are joining a worldwide movement to help defeat cancer for future generations.
And let's encourage everyone to get their recommended cancer screenings today!! Just a few minutes could save your life...
Any help in fighting cancer is greatly appreciated!
