Relay For Life of Salinas

Lalo's Pride

How We Relay

In October 2017, Lalo wasdiagnosed with Stage 4 neuroendocrine carcinoma, a rare and agressive cancer. His battle lasted 8 months, passing away on June 23rd, 2018. Finding any kind of information on this type of cancer proved to be extremely hard and frustrating. There are fewer than 200,000 cases in the United States. Most symptoms are msitaken for other illnesses, therefore by the time the person (more than 60%)is finally diagnosed they will be at a later stage. Chances for survival are small to non-existent at that stage. Our mission isto bring awareness to this type of cancer so that somebody else's dad, grandpa, husband, etc willhave more chances at survival and/or a cure in the future! Please consider donating to our team. No amount is too small. #zebrastrong

When Communities Come Together

The money raised through Relay For Life events helps realize the American Cancer Society's mission to save lives, celebrate life, and lead the fight for a world without cancer.

Donations are used to fund life-saving cancer research, patient support services, prevention and education information, and detection and treatment programs. Here's how the money raised last year is helping make a difference.

$406 million

Funding potentially life-saving cancer research grants.

1.2+ million

Calls and chats from patients/caregivers seeking info and support.

456 thousand

Nights of free lodging provided to patients at Hope Lodge®.
