|Dedicate a Star for the Relay For Life Global Celebration|
We all have a story – and each is unique. Some stories are shaped by those we have met who have been touched by cancer. Others’ stories include a personal diagnosis. For some, survivorship is something we celebrate, and for others, remembrance is the reason we keep pushing strong. But what we do know is when our stories unite around the mission we share, we can make the greatest impact – and for us, that’s working to free the world from the pain and suffering caused by cancer.
At this year’s Relay For Life Global Celebration at Mall of America® this August, we will unite stories from across the globe to build a three-story art installation consisting of 50,000 dedicated Relay For Life stars, each representing a story. This unites our collective stories into one universal constellation of stars to inspire hope, celebrate progress, and rally others to join us in defeating this disease. Individuals from every corner of the world can be a part of this beautiful experience by making a $10 donation to dedicate a star through the website. The funds raised through this art installation of dedicated stars will be credited to Relay For Life events by zip code of donor and fund our lifesaving mission.
Please spread the word about this opportunity, and encourage your volunteers to do the same! Some resources to help you promote the stars and the event in general are currently being developed and should be available by early next week. Also, be sure to follow our Relay For Life and American Cancer Society social pages as we will be sharing more information about this event over the next several weeks – and we encourage you to share away!
And in case you need a dose of inspiration, be sure to check out this video that was developed by a 13-year-old volunteer from Minnesota who is passionate about this opportunity to raise awareness about a cause that touches us all.
