He proudly served 24 years in the United States Navy, with the later part of his career being served in the Command Master Chief Program. He was highly decorated and attained the highest enlisted rank of E-9. He loved every year he spent and ship he served on while in the U.S. Navy. He took his Navy career to West Ashley High School as a Naval Science Instructor. He served not only the NJROTC cadets, but all students he came into contact with. Tim was very active and passionate about giving back to his community. He was past Chairman of Charleston Relay for Life, President of Old Charlestowne Sertoma. He was a Master Mason, Shriner, Scottish Rite and Sojourner. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Geneva Strickland and one brother, Nolan. He is survived by Nancy, his wife of 29 years; three step-daughters: Julie (Larry), Tracey (Eddie), and Deidra (Robert); three brothers: Jack (Cynthia), Kester (Wanda), and Franklin; two sisters: Margarette (Tony) and Demaris; grandchildren: Aubrey, Logan, Ginna (John) and their daughter Ainsley, Ryan, Austin, Ashley, Buddy, and Dakota; close family friend: William Sloane; several nieces and nephews. CRB - Run

The American Cancer Society has been invited to help with the 38th annual Cooper River Bridge Run. We LOVE being involved with this amazing Charleston tradition and we appreciate the generosity of those involved. Through this partnership we have been able to raise thousands of dollars for our local Relay For Life events, each year.

This is where you come in! We are looking for about 125 excited Relay volunteers who are able to help us by participating in the Race- day activities and the festivities around it. Specifically, we need at least 100 volunteers to help at the Race Starting Line and another 20 people who can help staff the ACS table at the Race Expo (March 26th and 27th) and the Finish Festival immediately following the race.

All volunteers will earn a donation for their RFL event and those participating on Race Day will get a 2015 CRBR shirt and are able to run the race (after the paying participants) for free!

We need help at the following times:

* Pre-Race Expo March 26th, 12:00pm-8:00pm (2 hour shifts available)

                Charleston Area Convention Center (5001 Coliseum Dr., N Charleston, SC 29418)

* Pre-Race Expo March 27th, 8:00am-8:00pm (2 hour shifts available)

                Charleston Area Convention Center (5001 Coliseum Dr., N Charleston, SC 29418)

* Race Day: March 28th (2 separate locations and times)

                - Start of the Race (Coleman Blvd, Mount Pleasant) (approx. 5:00am-9:00am) (one shift)

                - Finish Festival in Marion Square-8:00am-11:00am (one shift)

To make registration for the event as easy as possible, we are asking all interested parties to complete   an online Google Form to provide the information needed to participate. CLICK HERE to complete this form in under one minute! This is the only way to register for our volunteer slots. To participate, please provide:
