We all know that we don't like leaving our pets home while we are at Relay for Life; and unfortunately, that won't change.
HOWEVER, Rutland Relay is holding its FIRST American Cancer Society Bark For Life event this October!
What is a Bark For Life event?
The American Cancer Society Bark For Life is a fundraising event honoring the life-long contributions of our Canine Caregivers. It presents an opportunity for people to be empowered through their canine companion partnerships and to contribute to cancer cures through the mission of the American Cancer Society.
Canine Caregivers are Canine Companions, Guide Dogs, Service Dogs, Rescue Dogs, Therapy Dogs, Police Dogs, Cancer Survivor Dogs, and Diagnostic Dogs, who with their owners, are joining the American Cancer Society as Relay teams. They participate to celebrate cancer survivorship, to honor people lost to cancer, and to fundraise in support of the American Cancer Society mission of eliminating cancer though research, education, advocacy and service
Canine companions demonstrate unconditional love, joy, security, compassion, and no judgments of cancer survivors abilities or appearances. The American Cancer Society Bark For Life is an irresistible way to partner with your canine best friend, smile, and make new friends canine & human.
We would like to invite YOU to our Rutland County Bark For Life! It will be a fun-filled family event on Saturday, October 10th, 2015 at the Highline Lodge in Killinton, Vermont!

Just because Relay is over, doesn’t mean you have to STOP just yet! We know some of you have bake sales and yard sales planned for this summer and we want you to know that donations and money raised can STILL be submitted/turned in.
The deadline for the 2015 year is Friday, August 28th. Up until that day, you can still go online and make online donations to your site or to the Relay in general. Any cash you have will need to be turned into a check and that check can be mailed directly up to our office, (Relay For Life of Rutland, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495) where we will deposit that for you and get that money credited on the website.
Thank you again for ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK that you put into our Relay!
Best,Your Rutland Relay Event Leadership Team
What is Relay For Life?
Relay For Life is a community event where people come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. Friends and family, coworkers, companies, and other groups form teams and those teams raise money to help fund research and patient care through the American Cancer Society. The funds you raise truly make a difference in the fight against cancer - just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year!
Relay For Life teams “camp out” during the event at their site and take turns walking around the track. Team tent sites can be decorated and teams can sell food, items, and activities at their site for day-of fundraising. Events are between 12 and 24 hours long, and because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times.
The Mission of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life:
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported and that one day, cancer will be eliminated.
Through their fundraising involvement, Relay For Life participants ensure the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Society is supported. Volunteers can find fundraising ideas, incentive program details, and encouragement through a number of channels including here on RelayForLife.org and on Relay Nation, an online community developed just for Relay For Life participants. Have you raised a minimum of $100 so you can be part of the HOPE Club and receive your 2015 commemorative t-shirt?
The Luminaria Ceremony is a ceremony of remembrance and hope. It symbolizes a time to grieve for those we have lost, to reflect on our own cancer experience or that of those closest to us, and to find hope that tomorrow holds the promise of a cancer-free world.
