Relay Spotlight on Jeffrey Penkoff
Junior, Trumbull High School
Team: Troop 65 Trumbull
I relay in memory and honor of all of my family members and friends who have lived through or died with cancer. There are too many of them to list, but I will highlight my grandfather, who's been doing Relay with me since I started.
I can't remember how many times I have done Relay for Life, but this is my first year with the Relay For Life of Monroe & Trumbull after a number of years in Milford
I took a few years off from Relay recently, but the last time I did fundraising, my team was a top team. I raised a little more than $2,000, but all told I have raised $10-12,000 for the American Cancer Society across all my past Relays.
One of my biggest fundraisers has been a Closest-to-the-Pin contest up at Tashua Knolls. If I pick a busy weekend, that event will raise upwards of $1,000 by itself, and it's just a lot of fun. Outside of that, most of my fundraising goes through email or Facebook.
One other cool thing I have done for cancer is donate my hair to Locks of Love. I've now done it twice, and I loved it both times.
If you would like to be the next Relay spotlight, email your story to email@example.com.
