Day of the Event

Once the Event has Started
Low-Level Weather Conditions - Light Rain and/or light wind – GO!
Relay For Life is a Rain or Shine event! Entertainment and all activities and ceremonies will continue as planned. Staff and volunteers are constantly monitoring weather radar and have your safety in mind. If conditions worsen, an announcement will be made. PLEASE LISTEN FOR ANNOUNCEMENTS TO BE MADE FROM THE ACS STAFF PARTNER.
Intermediate-Level Weather Conditions – Heavy Rain, gusty winds, lightning, severe weather watches. SLOW!
All participants are required to move into the alternate location: Tecumseh. Have a plan to secure your belongings and proceed to the Tecumseh immediately. An announcement will be made from the stage.. Team Captains: please move your team inside the Tecumseh this is not optional. Participants will not be allowed to stay under tents when intermediate-level weather conditions exist. Once inside, participants are asked to stay away from windows and large doors. If the move occurs before the Luminaria Ceremony – you and your team are responsible for bringing as many luminaria with you. Remember that metal umbrellas conduct electricity and may attract lightning. PLEASE LISTEN FOR ANNOUNCEMENTS TO BE MADE FROM THE ACS STAFF PARTNER
High-Level Weather Conditions – Flooding, high winds, severe weather warnings, hail, or tornado activity. STOP!
The event may be cancelled and all participants are required to leave the track. Participants will be asked to move to the nearest shelter building or to leave the premises if time allows. If shelter is to be used, occupants should move away from windows and doors. Lay face down on the floor! Vehicles are unsafe during tornadoes; occupants of vehicles should move to substantial structures. If conditions improve overnight teams will be allowed to return to the venue to pick up their tents and supplies. All supplies must be picked up by noon unless conditions are still dangerous (check website for updates/facebook/radio stations).
