Why I Relay, by Harley Scroggins (Winner of Personalize Your Page Contest)
I was 13 years old when I first joined Relay For Life, and I knew nothing of its significance. Cancer was this abstract concept for me, some horrible thing that was talked about on TV and in sad movies. It could never affect my family. But I was happy to join my best friend and her family, the wonderful Peachs, on the track to support a good cause. I remember seeing how everyone responded to the luminaria ceremony, and how beautiful it all was. I haven't missed one since. Read more ...
New to Relay? Check out our How Relay Works booklet!
Interested in getting involved with Relay but wondering what it's all about? Is it a race? Do I have to train? If you're looking for some quick answers, read our new booklet, "How does Relay For Life work?" It's only a couple pages and will give you the basics.
For a detailed description of our event, including registration, campsite selection, Mission Message, fundraising rules, and what to expect on the day of Relay, see our newly updated guide, Relay 101. This guide even includes Rules and Reguation for the event that everyone should read. For more information, contact info@SCVRelay.org or see our Contact Us page.
Looking for ideas for your 2015 fundraisers? We have help!
One of the most popular ways to fundraise is to host a home and/or catalog party. You will find that most companies that sell this way will offer fundraisers, too. A particularly popular product over the past couple years is Popcornopolis! You can pick up a couple order sheets and sell to your friends, coworkers, family, neighbors--almost everyone enjoys popcorn! The good thing about this fundraiser is that even small orders can pay off because Popcornopolis donates 50% of the purchase price back to your Team! For Popcornopolis contact information, see their flier. For more fundraisers of this type, see the Fundraising Opportunties list on our Fundraising Central page. Or, contact our Fundraising Chair at Fundraising@SCVRelay.org.
