Why I Relay, by Harley Scroggins (Winner of Personalize Your Page Contest)

2015 Contest Winner - Harley01a.jpgI was 13 years old when I first joined Relay For Life, and I knew nothing of its significance. Cancer was this abstract concept for me, some horrible thing that was talked about on TV and in sad movies. It could never affect my family. But I was happy to join my best friend and her family, the wonderful Peachs, on the track to support a good cause. I remember seeing how everyone responded to the luminaria ceremony, and how beautiful it all was. I haven't missed one since.  Read more ...

Or would you just like to find out what volunteer opportunities are available during Southern California’s largest Relay For Life held right here in the Santa Clarita Valley? Whatever your motivation, volunteer opportunities are still available.  Whether you have one hour or many, SCV’s Relay For Life event will benefit from your efforts and we will be closer to Finishing the Fight and finding a cure for cancer.

To view volunteer positions available and sign up, click this link to SignUpGenius, or e-mail Mallory Keesler and Nancy Heaps at Volunteers@SCVRelay.org.  Download information sheet here.

Looking for ideas for your 2015 fundraisers? We have help!

Popcornopolis Logo One of the most popular ways to fundraise is to host a home and/or catalog party.  You will find that most companies that sell this way will offer fundraisers, too.  A particularly popular product over the past couple years is Popcornopolis!  You can pick up a couple order sheets and sell to your friends, coworkers, family, neighbors--almost everyone enjoys popcorn!  The good thing about this fundraiser is that even small orders can pay off because Popcornopolis donates 50% of the purchase price back to your Team!  For Popcornopolis contact information, see their flier.  For more fundraisers of this type, see the Fundraising Opportunties list on our Fundraising Central page.  Or, contact our Fundraising Chair at Fundraising@SCVRelay.org.

You can fight cancer while shopping at Amazom.com!

2015 Amazon Smile Logo Shopping at Amazon.com is easy and can save you money.  But did you know it could also benefit the American Cancer Society?  Start at http://smile.amazon.com/ and choose ACS and a portion of all eligible purchases will benefit the American Cancer Society.  This opportunity is all year long, so start shopping and fight cancer now!

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is the world's largest and most impactful fundraising event to end cancer. It unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. Today, with the support of thousands of volunteers like you, the American Cancer Society is helping save more than 400 lives a day. And we won't stop until we finish the fight against cancer! Please join us!
