Fighting with Hope: In Memory of Jennifer Kalkhof

Looking back over the battle it seems like yesterday.

Hearing the news that a loved one had cancer,

A feeling that can't be forgotten.

 

But you didn't give up,

You didn't turn away,

Together you chose to fight.

 

Fighting for life,

Fighting for hope,

Fighting for more time.

 

There were the ups and downs,

Times when they were at their weakest point,

Yet they were full of life, strength and the will to keep going.

The cancer might attack their body, but it did not take their soul.

 

Yet during the battle many amazing things occurred.

Bonds were strengthened,

Love was shown.

The stressors of life were the last thing to worry about,

Instead time was shared with one another.

 

As time went on God's plan was seen,

Your loved one was to become an angel and spread their wings.

 

The time came when they went to be with the one almighty.

They look down now proud of you,

For you have not given up,

You continue to fight for a cure.

You carry their legacy.

You see the hope you can give and you are still fighting for them.

 

Cancer cannot win, it will not win.

We stand together united to fight.

In honor, in memory and for our future.

You are their legacy and the one continuing the fight.
