Event: Relay For Life of Gwinnett on May 10 & 11, 2013
$543 raised $500 goal
I had not had any profound experiences with cancer (except for in books) until my father was diagnosed with nonhodgkin's lymphoma in mid 2011. It was one of the hardest things to watch him lose his hair and be unable to eat because the chemicals in his body made food taste so bad. Now if any of you have seen my father lately, he is stronger and healthier than he was at this point over two years ago. He is a special case, however. Many people fight cancer relentlessly for years or don't have the money to afford the right treatment, which is where the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life come in. Our school has an INCREDIBLE Relay for Life team that raises huge amounts of money each year to donate to the American Cancer Society which in turn uses it towards people who are suffering from cancer.
The Relay for Life event takes place each May and it is an overnight fundraiser where high schools compete to raise the most money. Each student has to raise $200 to attend. This year our team goal is $80,000, and I would so appreciate it if you would take the time to donate towards my goal and to our incredible and spirited team - we almost won last year, and this year I believe we can do it! Please help us in our fight for the lives of everyone who is suffering from this terrible disease.
Thank you to my supporters!
