Why am I walking?

Breast cancer has always been personal to me. I lost my mom, an aunt, and one of my best friends to breast cancer. Three cousins and more of my friends are living with the "not knowing" -- not knowing whether the surgery, chemo, and radiation therapy they have undergone will keep the cancer at bay, or whether the cancer will return and once again take over their lives.

In 2005, I, too, was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I joined my family and friends in undergoing cancer treatments and living with the "not knowing."

I have participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk every year since 2000. I walk so that others can live WITHOUT the "not knowing" -- so that they can KNOW that they are truly cured of breast cancer and can continue to live life to the fullest.

Please help me give this gift to all of our friends and family -- yours and mine -- who will be diagnosed with this disease in the future.
