Making Strides of Boston

Troop Tegan for Lorraine

Why We are Making Strides

In the loving memory of our fearless and courageous leader,Lorraine, Troop Tegan will once again take to the streets of Boston on October 2th, to raise money to help others with their battle against breast cancer.  We thank everyone for the overwhelming support we have received in the past, through donations, fundraising, and camaraderie during the walk. Every year our troop gets a little larger, a bit more spirited and maybe just a tad older, but we remain committed to raising money to help the American Cancer Society eradicate this dreaded disease in the future and help those struggling with it's side-effects get through today as comfortably as possible.

The advances made by American Cancer Society, possible by donations from people like you, helped Lorraine survive with cancer much longer, with a higher quality of life than anyone had initially anticipated twenty years ago.  Our donations will help more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors celebrate another birthday this year!

Why We Support the American Cancer Society

Today one of every two women newly diagnosed with breast cancer reaches out to the American Cancer Society for help and support. The donations our team raises will enable investment in groundbreaking breast cancer research, free information and services for women diagnosed with the disease, and access to mammograms for women who need them.

Saving lives from breast cancer starts one team, one walker, and one dollar at a time. We know that the American Cancer Society is the leader in the fight to end breast cancer. We know that supporting them will ensure that if you need someone to talk to anytime of the day or night, they will be there. If your friend is losing her hair from chemo, your mother needs a ride to treatment, or a loved one needs a place to stay when treatment is far from home, they will be there to help.

Join us, with Lorraine in our hearts, as together we will walk for a world without breast cancer.

How You're Helping
Save Lives From Breast Cancer

Thanks to the support of so many, the American Cancer Society is there for everyone in every community touched by breast cancer. Including those who are currently dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis, those who may face diagnosis in the future, and those who may avoid a diagnosis altogether thanks to education and risk reduction.

Welcome to our Team Page. We’ve formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.

There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It’s providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.

How We Support the American Cancer Society

Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.
