Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a celebration of survivorship - an occasion to express hope and our shared determination to make this breast cancer's last century.

Event Details

Here are some additional details for our walk on Sunday! 

Date:  Sunday, October 23rd – Rain or Shine!

Time:  Registration begins at 11:30 A.M.; Program at 12:05; Walk starts at 1pm.

Place:  Holmes Lake Park (70th and Van Dorn)

Parking:  Please carpool if possible.  There is limited parking inside the park.

Park One (across the street, located at 70th and Normal) has generously offered

parking space within their lot for Strides participants to park.  Signs will be

posted at lot entrances as they become full.

OFF-SITE PARKING UPDATE - SHUTTLE SERVICE: Off-site parking is available at

Seacrest Field – 7400 A St – West Parking Lot. A shuttle bus has been provided

for individuals wanting to save time and park off site.

Shuttle service runs from 10:30am-3:30pm.


Routes:  There are two routes. 

  • The Long Route, which is just less than 3 miles long with a mixture

            of surfaces (paved & packed rock) as you travel around the lake.

  • The Short Route is 1 mile, mostly paved. This route does include

            some packed rock surfaces as part of this path.


Walker Check-in:  Every walker, even someone who has not yet raised

funds or has raised all his/her funds online should check-in at the ‘Check-in Tent’.

This is done by fully filling out the registration form (which is the left half of the

walk brochure) before coming to the walk or bringing your Print & Bring form

then turning either form at the registration tent on the 23rd. Note - Additional Registration 

forms are available.


Team Names:  Please record your team’s name AND your team leader’s name

on the “Team Name/Company” line found on the right hand side of the fund

raising side of the walk paper.


Survivor Check-in:  Survivors, please make certain to visit the Survivors’ tent,

after registering, to check-in, participate in an activity, and pick-up a

special recognition piece.


Merchandise Tent (Opens at 11:30 am):

  • Event T-shirts: Sizes Adult S-3XL / Youth S-L  

            *A limited number of t-shirts will be available

            at the event for a suggested donation of $15.

  • Additional Making Strides gear is also available


Water and snacks:  Please consider bringing your own water container as we are

partnering with SPRINGO to eliminate plastics and waste by using refillable

containers when possible. There will be a water station on the Long Route,

and a water station at the finish line of both routes.  Light snacks will also be available after the walk.


Signage: Feel free to bring a hand-held sign if you choose. However, no corporate or team signs

may be staked or hung anywhere in the park.


A few thing we have to say "NO" to:

  • PETS, please leave them at home for the safety of both your pet and others.
  • skateboards, roller blades, bikes, handouts, campaigning, corporate mascots
  • smoking (including e-cigarettes) or alcohol at our Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
