Event Information

Previously known as the William T. White, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament, the American Cancer Society Windy City Golf Open will celebrate its 37th anniversary in 2018 at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, IL.

Golfers are able to play their on ball on Conway Farms’ Championship Course, host of the 2017 BMW Championship and rated #10 in Illinois by Golf Digest. Golf includes caddies, access to driving range and putting green, lunch, cocktail reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres, player gift and the opportunity to bid on our silent auction and participate in our raffle.

Sponsors and individual golfers will have the opportunity to play in the 7:45am Morning Shotgun or the 12:30pm Afternoon Shotgun. To maximize the traditions of Conway Farms Golf Club, the American Cancer Society Windy City Golf Open is a walking event. Carts are available for those who have a handicap or medical condition by request.

We anticipate that we will sell out and have a full course of golfers in the morning and afternoon, so please do not delay signing up your foursome.

History

In 1981, William T. White, Jr. initiated a community golf tournament to bring friends together to raise funds to support the American Cancer Society. The tournament was named in his memory after he lost his battle with leukemia in 1993 and remained so named through 2017. After honoring longtime American Cancer Society volunteer Kathy Mignin in 2017, Bill and Susan White and the executive committee agreed to change the name of the event going forward to the Windy City Golf Open to honor all of those currently fighting cancer and memorialize those we have lost to the disease.

Since the event’s inception, participants and sponsors have raised more than $2 million to fund research and patient support services.
