American Cancer Society’s Bucket List Bash raises record $1 million to Crush Cancer
The American Cancer Society is proud to announce that a record breaking one million dollars was raised at The Bucket List Bash ICEHOTEL on March 4, 2016. This magnificent event was inspired by the ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden and was held at the Naples Grande Beach Resort. Elizabeth Star, event chair, states "our goal was to touch as many lives as possible, give our guests a meaningful and dynamic experience, and to raise a million dollars to CRUSH CANCER in our lifetime".
There were two new features at this event to broaden awareness of our mission and to be more inclusive of the Naples community. The Walls of Bravery and our Party in a Party. The Walls of Bravery, was a powerful artistic display of photographs and a very personal and emotional statement at the event. It payed tribute to those who are presently conquering cancer, and to honored the memory of those who are no longer with us. It was a community wide endeavor.
Full-time professional auctioneer Scott Robertson led the crowd in a lively auction of six one-of-a-kind “Bucket List” experiences raising $440,000. Scott also led a Fund A Need paddle raise to fund the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Hope Lodge in Jacksonville, Florida. The paddle raise allowed participants the opportunity to donate $500 to $25,000.
The Bucket List Bash has raised more than $3 million since its inception in 2011. Funds raised help the American Cancer Society to fund its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem through prevention, education, service, and research.
