The American Cancer Society’s fourth annual Discovery Ball will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010, at the Civic Opera House. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a pre-event reception that includes an amazing silent auction followed by an elegant dinner, a spectacular live auction and incredible entertainment. The Discovery Ball is one of the premier black-tie events of its kind to be held in the country. WhoThe ACS Discovery Ball event chairs are Mamie and Greg Case, President & CEO of Aon Corporation. More than 1,000 guests are expected to attend and will include corporate sponsors, business and philanthropic leaders, underwriters, special guests and volunteers. WhyAccording to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1.4 million new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in the United States in 2009. More than 570,000 Americans will lose their battle. That’s nearly 1,561 people a day. In the United States, one of every four deaths is from cancer. The American Cancer Society is committed to changing these devastating odds. Over the past two years, the Discovery Ball has raised more than $5.9 million to support our mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service.
