Our Mission

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and patient and family services.

The American Cancer Society nationwide goals for 2015:

• There will be a 25 percent reduction in the overall age-adjusted cancer incidence rate
• There will be a 50 percent reduction in the overall age-adjusted cancer mortality rate.
• There will be measurable improvement in the quality of life (physical, psychological, social, and spiritual)from the time of diagnosis and for the balance of life of all survivors.
