Cancer strikes three out of
four families. Treatment is rigorous, lasting weeks or months.
Every year more than 96,000 cancer patients travel to Houston for
treatment or follow up visits. For many, the quality of care at the
Texas Medical Center (TMC) offers the greatest hope of beating
Hope Lodge will be Houston’s first and only no-cost residence for
cancer patients and their families visiting our area for treatment.
It will be the nation’s largest, with 62 patient suites and five
stories and will offer approximately 23,000 nights of free lodging (www.cancer.org/hopelodgehouston).
Thanks to land donated by the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, the
Lodge will be conveniently located on Almeda Road in the TMC. Hope
Lodge Houston will be open to all cancer patients of any age who are
receiving ongoing treatments or follow up care and live at least
fifty miles from their cancer care providers. However, the Society
has and will continue to review patients’ needs on a case by case
basis in order to help each patient access the cancer care he/she
