As co-chairs of the prestigious American Cancer Society San Diego Distinguished Events, we take great pride in leading the effort to create closer ties between the San Diego business and social communities and the American Cancer Society.
The American Cancer Society was founded 100 years ago when cancer survival rates were in the single digits; today, there are nearly 14.5 million cancer survivors in the United States. While we have made great strides in the fight against cancer, there is still an immediate need for your financial support.
Since it began funding grants in San Diego, the American Cancer Society has funded more than $165 million in San Diego research grants, much of it in early stage research. Because of donors and supporters like you, the American Cancer Society leads the way as the largest private, not-for-profit funder of cancer research. The Society funds and conducts research that helps us better understand, prevent, and find cures for cancer. Your support also helps the Society provide critical services to patients and their families like rides to treatments, patient lodging, and emotional support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
On behalf of the 2018 distinguished event volunteers and the American Cancer Society, thank you for your partnership and commitment to ending cancer in our lifetime. We greatly appreciate your consideration in donating to our distinguished events.
