Doug Benson Dam Dam Paddle Challenge on Lake Gaston

9th Annual Doug Benson Dam Dam

Paddle Challenge Event

Lake Gaston - Saturday, October 14, 2017

Almost all of us have been touched by cancer in some way.  Our family was touched in a very personal way 9 years ago when Doug Benson was diagnosed with lung and then brain cancer.  His cancer was very aggressive and took Doug from us far too soon.  As a result we've decided to make a difference by offering a unique endurance challenge to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The endurance challenge consists of a 32 mile course from Kerr Lake Dam to Gaston Lake Dam.  The challenge is open to Stand Up, Kayak, Canoe and Dory paddlers.  The leaders will complete the 32 mile event in an estimated 7 1/2 hours, and the 9 mile event in 1 1/2 hours.  We are looking for sponsors to donate per mile or per hour.
