You're Invited...

Please join the American Cancer Society to save lives and create a world with more birthdays in association with Winter Park Ski Resort to remember Thomas James Veit.  The Thomas James Veit Ski Down Against Cancer is coming to Winter Park Resort for its fifth year this Spring. The TJV Ski Down started in 2011 as an event to honor former patroller Tom Veit, who was taken from us by colon cancer after a fight that lasted over three years. Tom patrolled with the Winter Park Professional Ski Patrol for twelve years, building relationships and fond memories that endure to this day.

Once again, the Winter Park Ski Patrol will be teaming up with the Cavett Kids Foundation for another exciting ski down.  The Cavett Kids will participate in the ski down, riding down the mountain in Patrol rescue sleds.  (http://www.cavettkids.org/)

The after-hours skiing portion of the event is open to all resort employees, resort volunteers, and tenants of Winter Park Resort.  Day events include on snow games at the base of the Super Gauge and Zephyr Express lifts.  The day events are open to the public with all donations benefitting the American Cancer Society.

The schedule of events is listed below.  Please plan to attend this very special opportunity to raise funds for cancer research.

The après ski event, including a silent auction, will be held at West Portal Station at the base of Winter Park Resort. West Portal will also have a special menu for the event as well as drink specials for all participants with certain proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.  The après ski event will be from 3-5 PM and will include free music along with drawings for prizes.

The on mountain ski down will begin around 5 PM and can be seen from the base of Winter Park Resort.  The participants will ski down Little Pierre trail to Lower Hughes trail and finish at the bottom of Winter Park Resort.  The silent auction will begin at 6 PM.  The auction prizes will be available for viewing starting at 4 PM in West Portal Station.

Please mark Saturday March 21, 2015 as a day to ski, enjoy the outdoors and fight with Winter Park Resort employees against cancer.

For over a century, the American Cancer Society has fought for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. By taking what we’ve learned through research and turning it into what we do, we have contributed to a 15 percent decrease in the overall cancer death rate between the early 1990s and 2005. That means that we helped avoid about 650,000 cancer deaths and created the potential for more birthday celebrations. Overall, 11 million cancer survivors in America will celebrate a birthday this year. Now that’s a reason to party, so join us!
