Well, the main event is over. There was hair flying everywhere and when the clippers went quiet, 19 happy, hairless shavees filled the stage. Your generosity is nothing short of amazing. It’s a personal thing -

We all know cancer is a big disease with big consequences. But my motivation to shave is far more intimate. Cancer has touched my life too many times. I grieved with my wife when my father-in-law fought and died. I rejoiced in my sister-in-law’s victory over breast cancer. I admired my friend and co-worker’s refusal to give in despite being pummeled by the disease. And I shared a quiet moment with my father when cancer took his life this past Christmas.

So cancer is personal for me. And, regrettably, it will be – or is – for you, too.  I’m putting my head on the buzz block to make people notice and to ask questions. And after asking questions, I hope they’ll be moved to act, to talk, to give, or to simply to pray for those battling cancer.
