Together we can make a difference! I have been an avid mountain biker for years and I love to Ski. By no means do I really like to road ride think it's too dangerous with all those cars, I prefer the mountains. I ride the road only for charity rides. I have ridden GWB Challenge for 3 years before doing other various charity rides, I even rode the alpine loop along the Hudson with a Trail tail attached to my bike with my 8-year-old daughter once! I have participated in the MS-100 for the past 10 years to raise money for MS. Three years ago My father was diagnosed with lung cancer and lost his right lung, 2 years ago my brother John one year older than I was diagnosed also with lung cancer and lost the lower left section of his lung, with Chemo and Gods love he is OK. For now… 6 months later, on September 18, my first day of the two day MS-100 ride and after riding 63 miles I wavering into the last rest area and collapsed awoke in the hospital hours later and was told that I suffered a seizure. After a CAT scan and a MRI they confirmed I had a glioma the size of a small egg in the lower left frontal lobe. Which caused a mass edema, which caused me to seize. The good doctors at MSK told me "it was a good tumor or cancer". Well after 9 hours of surgery, 85 staples, 15 titanium screws and a skull plate the size of your cell phone, a dozen or so MRI's and God's love I am much better. My Dad lost his battle with cancer on Jan 16, 2009. I continue in his honor and that of my brother and all those who battle this horrific killer. I am lucky, I was carried by angels the last 8 miles to that rest area. I do not remember much of those last 15 or 20 minutes as my brain slowly swelled and shut down. My body knew enough to go on and that day may have saved my life. They say that the tumor may have been 8-10 years old. But who really knows. What is known that most tumors metastasize rapidly in juveniles and adults in their late forty -early fifties? Had I not pushed myself, seized in Mendham NJ Fire Dept. parking lot that day, I may still be walking around today ...unknowing, a time bomb waiting to explode, I am truly blessed, I owe to much to ever repay in one lifetime. If you hurt, remember you can get better, it does get better. Never quit, never give up Please help me! Today, there is more hope than ever for people facing cancer. However, there is much work to be done. I hope you will support me in my effort by joining using the links above to help me reach my goal.
