Hello everyone!!

Thanks to you all for your support in the past, but it's that time of year again!!

I'll be honest; I very seriously considered not participating this year.  In these economic times we are all struggling, myself included, and I wasn't comfortable asking for donations.  But Monday February 23rd changed all that.  On that day my little circle of friends loss not one but two beloved dogs.  The young woman who walks Max in the afternoons while I'm at work lost her Caspian to cancer.  On that same day one of my closest friends lost her Cocoa to a very aggressive, untreatable form of stomach cancer.  The loss of Cocoa especially hit me hard.  She was young, just 6 going on 7.  She was Max's best friend.  And I was there every day trying to stay strong for my friend as we watched her deteriorate while we waited for test result after test result.  The diagnosis was finally made by the specialists at the Animal Medical Center, the very institution this fundraiser will help.  I realized that not participating would be the wrong thing to do. What if the funds I raise (no matter how larger or small) are the funds that lead to the next breakthrough?

So while I know times are tough for us all I have decided to, with Max, once again participate and walk this year in memory of Caspian and Cocoa.  As a result I need to reach out to you, my friends, and ask for your support.  I don't expect to surpass, or even equal, last year's spectacular $1610.00 total.  I'm simply asking for what ever little you can give.  Even a single dollar will bring us closer to eradicating this horrid disease not only in humans, but in our sweet pets as well.
