Since 2006, Spartans Head Coach Tom Izzo and his wife, Lupe, have worked with the American Cancer Society to save lives from cancer through the Suits and Sneakers Challenge and Coaches vs. Cancer initiatives. Together, with the Lansing community, the Izzo’s have raised more than $802,000

In 2017, over 30 local companies and schools participated to raise over $90,000, a 58% increase over 2016’s fundraising total. “It was inspirational to see people from all parts of our community come out to support us and help save lives from cancer,” said Lisa Hildrof. “Together, we took tangible action to make a difference.”

What to Expect

Tom and Lupe Izzo’s Coaches vs Cancer, Suits and Sneakers Challenge is bracket style friendly fundraising coemption. Pitting local businesses and schools against similar sized organizations to see who can raise the most to help beat cancer. Bracket winners receive bragging rights and two tickets to the Breslin Bash (a behind the scenes tour with Coach Izzo). Traditionally, employees donate a minimum of $5 to wear their sneakers or jeans to work during the challenge week. NEW THIS YEAR, you will have the entire week to raise funds in a way that works for your team.  The sky is the limit, engage your customers by creating a wall of hope or running an email/social media campaign, have fun at the office and get active by shooting free throws during lunch using a toy hoop.

Your team fundraising box with your 2018 Playbook from Coach Izzo will be delivered the second week of January. Bracket challengers will be announced on January 19, 2018. BONUS – if you recruit your team’s bracket challenger, you will receive a ticket to the Breslin Bash!

Fundraising Deadline
All fundraising money, including matching gifts, must be postmarked on or before January 28, 2018 to qualify for awards, prizes and team rankings.
