American Cancer Society Run For Dad
Sunday, June 21, 2015

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 13th Annual Run For Dad event! We are so greatful for your support and dedication to the fight against prostate cancer!

Come join us for the 13th annual RUN FOR DAD on Father's Day, Sunday, June 21st, 2015. This year the event returns to the beautiful Mercer County Park. Registration will begin at 7:15 am, followed by the 5K Run and 2-Mile Walk at 8:45am and The Kid's Run at 10:00am.

Prostate Cancer is the most prevalent type of cancer impacting American men. In 2015, approximately 220,000 men in the US will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and over 27,000 will die from the disease. New Jersey has the third highest incidence per capita of prostate cancer in the US. Even worse, in African American men, the incidence is roughly 60% higher than those of white or Asian men. There is good news however. The 5-year survival rate for men whose prostate cancer is detected early is nearly 100% and 93% of men diagnosed with prostate cancer will live 10 years or more. Education, awareness and personal action are saving lives and finding a cure.

RUN FOR DAD is the American Cancer Society’s premiere community event to raise funds and build awareness about prostate cancer. Last year, over 1,200 people participated in RUN FOR DAD. Proceeds from the event support prostate cancer research, local programs for patients, and family services for those newly diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.

RUN FOR DAD honors the memory of Frank Simms, co-founder of the Run, who lost his battle with prostate cancer in 2005.

While there is a 5K run on a USATF certified, traffic free course, the event also includes a 2-Mile Walk on a park road and paved trails, as well as short races for kids. In addition, many of our sponsors provide important information and materials about the latest developments in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. Random prize drawings, special goodies for kids and summer snacks combine to make RUN FOR DAD 2015 a positive and fun way to honor our fathers!
