My Reason to Relay

Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you are now familiar, it has become a yearly event for me to participate in the American Cancer Society's signature event, Relay for Life. Relay for Life raises money to fight cancer and to raise awareness of cancer in the community. It is a community-developed event run by volunteers and coached by ACS staff. It honors cancer survivors, and remembers those who have lost their lives to cancer. I became involved 5 years ago when my dear friend, Kathy Sack, was defeated by this dreaded disease.
I have been fortunate - I have worked with wonderful people on Relay each year. I'm a co-captain of a team made up of mostly PTA members. Many of us have become great friends due to Relay. It's amazing how staying up all night for such a great cause can bring people together. The unfortunate part is the impact that cancer has had on my life In the past 15 years, I have lost 6 people. Some friends, but mostly relatives. I would like to believe that with more money going toward research, less people will succumb to cancer. I also have many people in my life who have won the fight and others who are still battling it.
So, as you also know, part of this event is fund-raising, and I would like to ask you to sponsor me to walk in this event. I will be at the event for the duration of the event - from about 4pm on June 6th, until 6am on June 7th. And in all likelihood, sleep will be scarce.... So those of you who are worried that I won't work for this donation don’ t have to worry. :) Last Relay I raised almost $1000. This year I would like to surpass that. Without your help, I won't be able to raise that extra money for cancer research.
